About John

John Moran has been committed to building Natick's future for more than 30 years.

As Chairman of the Board of Selectmen for two years in the 1990s, John participated in the development of a creative financing strategy to fund the town's new $41 million municipal complex, as well as the Brown and Lilja elementary schools. The funding was derived from the Natick Mall that opened in 1994. That strategy not only kept tax rates from increasing, it also boosted Natick's bond rating with Moody's Investors.

During his two terms as selectman, John was appointed to the Metrowest Growth Management Committee, where he worked to save 1,500 jobs at Natick Army Labs and kept the Logan Express Bus from relocating outside of Natick.

An avid environmentalist, John orchestrated the cleanup of a hazardous waste site in East Natick and worked with civic leaders and residents to have 500 leaking home heating oil tanks removed in the town's Wethersfield neighborhood. He spearheaded a town-wide drive for curbside recycling, that has proven to be very successful and the town has seen a substantial reduction in landfill usage. John advocates for the creation of bike lanes along all newly paved roads, creation of walking trails and promotes water conservation and open space preservation.

A lifelong Natick resident and owner of Moran Financial Advisors, John knows about financial responsibility. As a recent member of the Natick Finance Committee, he worked tirelessly to consolidate town departments, curtail fees, reduce costs and curb wasteful spending without impacting the town's service and schools.

And, as a former educator, Pop Warner and Little League coach who served on both Boards of Directors, John has been a strong advocate for the town's schools, children and elderly citizens. John is also on the Natick Service Council's Board of Directors where he has served as a volunteer for eight years with the Natick Food Pantry, delivering meals and raising money to help support their program. He was a 25-year member of the Natick Kiwanis Club and is presently a member of the Charles River Rotary Club.

John married his high school sweetheart, the former Paula Bibo. They have two daughters, Jennifer and Margaret, both of Natick.
