Moran earns the endorsement of the MetroWest Daily News and the Natick Bulletin & Tab
Friday, March 21st 2008
Read about John in this editorial from the MetroWest Daily News. Here is an excerpt:
Whether the override succeeds or fails, Natick will have to come up with some new ideas to raise revenue and reduce spending. The incumbents promise to pursue new ideas, but they haven't offered much in the current campaign.

Moran, on the other hand, has plenty of ideas: consolidate school and town landscaping operations, outsource town payroll processing, ambulance services and trash pickup, regionalize veterans services, procurement, environmental enforcement and some firefighting capacity. His ideas may not all be practical, and they have already earned him the enmity of some town unions, but even good boards need regular infusions of new ideas and creative problem-solving.

Read about Moran's support of the upcoming override in the MetroWest Daily News
Wednesday, March 5th 2008
Here is an excerpt:
A month ago, selectman candidate John Moran was adamant in his opposition to the town's looming $3.9 million override vote, saying the town must "get its financial house in order" before he would support the measure.

But as the town's financial picture became clearer in recent weeks, and the impact of possible budget cuts if the override fails were laid out, Moran changed his mind.

"I've devoted all my free time for the last 30 years to the children and the seniors in Natick," said the former school teacher and Natick Service Council volunteer. "To think that I would then abandon them at this point in time is just what I would not (do.) So I will be supporting the override."

Moran in the MetroWest Daily News
Saturday, February 2nd 2008
Read about where Moran and the other candidates stand regarding Proposition 2½ in this article from the MetroWest Daily News. Here is an excerpt:
"I'm not going to ask the taxpayers of Natick to come up with another dime until we get our financial house in order," Moran said Friday.

Moran, a former selectman, said he has been bringing cost-saving ideas before the board for the last two years, but the board has not taken action on them until it is too late.

An idea to create a task force for cost savings and revenue generation that Finance Committee member Tony Lista brought to Town Administrator Martha White includes ideas that he's been pushing for years, Moran said.

"We should have been doing those things to avoid this override," Moran said. "I'm only in favor of an override if we still need one after we've instituted those ideas."
